Emergency Medicine
Beyond ED.
To make the discharge decision as good as the resuscitation.
"Most of our patients go home. Almost none of our training is about what happens next."
We rehearse for the patients we admit. We discharge four times as many.
Resuscitation is what emergency medicine trains for. Discharge is what it mostly does - and it's where most of our risk sits. Representations, missed diagnoses and complaints don't cluster in resus. They cluster in the hours before someone walks out the front door.
That decision is only as good as the system receiving it - and too often, we make it without seeing what comes next.

From emx & gpx to embed.
In July 2026, we brought clinicians together in Sri Lanka through two conferences - emx for emergency clinicians in Weligama and gpx for general practitioners in Colombo. embed grew from a simple question: what happens after the ED decision is made? It brings emergency medicine together with the clinicians and services that take over next.

What our delegates and faculty said
I was quite impressed with how many different specialties you managed to get to an ED conference. And we do interface with a lot of specialties, don't we?
Dr. Osasehi Ikhu-Omoregbe
Paediatric and General Emergency Physician, Melbourne, AU
Despite this being the first conference you've ever done, this is by far one of the best medical conferences - let alone emergency conferences - I've ever been to.
Dr Herris Xiao
Emergency Physician, Melbourne
I like how they're quite practical, quite pragmatic, focusing on the take-home points - things we can really bring back to our practice in our home environment.
Dr Sam Kennedy
Emergency Physician, Auckland, New Zealand
